Mz. Kiss is a rapper, singer, songwriter and performer based in Lagos Nigeria. Born Akindele Justina Omowunmi in the early 90, the artistically diverse and engaging femcee hails from Okiti Pupa in Ondo State, Nigeria.
Mz. Kiss started off her music career officially in 2010, when she released her debut song titled “YOU GO CRAZE”, followed by her “HOLLA AT ME” freestyle. Both songs were independently released and promoted. The songs received positive nods from the media and paved the foundation for her subsequent bangers “FIGURE 8” and “SPATACUZ”. The videos for Spartacus and figure 8 were developed by acclaimed video director Paul Gambit and this marked the beginning of their working relationship.
Under GAMBIT Music the artist experienced a great degree of artistic growth and cut her teeth as an act to reckon with in the music business.
She parted ways with Paul GAMBIT on peaceful and mutually agreed grounds.
Here is an highlight of her interview with Punch.ng on June 17, 2018
“I am from Ondo State. I had an amazing time growing up. I have a family that loves God and music. Though my father is late and I miss him a lot, memories shared with him were exciting. My dad was a pastor, my sisters were choristers and my brother was a drummer.
“I studied Mass Communication at the National Open University.
“I started rapping when I met my first producer, Soplain, in Bariga, Lagos. Bariga made me who I am today because the people there inspired me. I started dreaming of being a rapper when I heard the late Dagrin’s songs. I loved his style and I thought I could do it too and when I tried, it sounded good. I was later advised to stick to rap music since we already had many singers. Music is life for me; it is what I know how to do best.
Mz. Kiss caught the eye of CAPITAL GORETTI top executive/ILLBLISS whom she met during a radio interview at one of the top radio stations in Lagos. He kept an eye open on her consistent growth as a recording artist, and finally made a move to complete her signing to their stable of hit making artists. Her brand New Single ‘Owo Meta’ (produced By Tunex) is her debut single under the new Capital Goretti imprint, a street rap Anthem guaranteed to stir up loads of attention for Mz Kiss.
