Saints Don’t Moan by Adesanya Pelumi Ayomide
This book may read like a memoir, but every event, every character, and every confession within these pages is a work of fiction. I wrote this story in a memoir style because I wanted to explore the kind of truth that lives beneath the surface, the truth of human longing, loneliness, guilt, desire, and the quiet performances we give every day.
While none of these events happened in real life, the emotions are very real. Fiction allows us to hold up a mirror without naming the face. It lets us ask dangerous questions safely. It allows us to imagine the private thoughts people never say out loud.
This story is not a recounting of my own life; it’s an exploration of a life that could have been someone’s, a life shaped by choices, silence, and consequences. I hope it makes you think, reflect, and maybe even sit with a few uncomfortable truths.
Thank you for reading this work of imagination, and for giving Kiki’s voice space to exist, even if only in fiction.
